Inspired by Manet’s Le Déjeuner sur l’herbe, this work brings a familiar art-historical composition into the visual environment of the present. Figures painted from life coexist with layers of contemporary imagery, allowing different periods and visual languages to collide. The work reflects my continuing interest in the relationship between the individual and the accumulation of images, information and cultural references that surrounds us.
